Pinky at Dreweatts

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Another night another auction, this time Dreweatts at Selfridges, saw another TB+TC confirmed artist’s work up for grabs. This time it was Pinky and his brand new, four layered papercut entitled “When The Shit Goes Down You Better Be Ready”.

Pure Evil at Bonhams

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Although I wasn’t there, I understand the Bonhams Urban Art Sale was packed to the rafters last night but a lot of people weren’t buying. Having looked at the results of the auction, some pieces went for well below their estimate and others didn’t sell at all. So it is good to hear that Lot No: 59 did! Created for the Artists11 project, and sold on behalf of the Prostate Cancer Charity, Pure Evil’s ‘Live East, Die Young’canvas sold for £1,800 inclusive of Buyer’s Premium. PE will be part of The Beautiful and The Canned. More information to follow. While you’re waiting for that check out the Bonhams results here: http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r

Pinky Gets Shirty!

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

These little beauties came by way of email yesterday courtesy of Let Them Hang, promoting a new Bristol based T-Shirt label called FROM. The blurb suggests they “allow you to breathe under water and smelt aluminium in the palm of your hand.” All of which I very much doubt. However, I do bet they look good on. Pictured is Pinky’s Skullhead design (view the whole range at: www.fromstore.com) Based in Brighton, the master of the paper cuts, Pinky, will also be at The Beautiful and The Canned – Brighton, May 16 & 17 2009. See you there.

Welcome to The Beautiful and The Canned, a blog dedicated to an event showcasing street art as part of the Brighton Fringe festival in May. This new show will feature some of the brightest talent around. We already have commitment from some of the hottest can toters out there, including Pure Evil (still in Brazil for his solo show and expedition into the Amazon’s heart of darkness), Snub, Hutch and Pinky. If you want to be there to experience the street art event of the summer then stay tuned to the site for updates on new artists signing up to TB+TC and news on exclusive art for sale at the show. This is going to be Brighton rock but not as you know it!
