TB&TC Artist on Wooster Collective

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Brighton-based TB&TC artist Martin Middleton has run the Artscape project in the city which works and engages with different community groups to transform urban spaces. Projects range from large murals to 3-D sculpture and his transformed telephone junction boxes have become synonymous with Brighton. Wooster Collective posted some of his work on their blog today but failed to give him a name check so we thought we’d do it for them. See the Wooster Collective piece HERE.

One to Watch

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

During The Beautiful and The Canned weekend, we will be taking over part of My Hotel in the centre of Brighton and converting it into a pop-up gallery space to exclusively sell the artists’ work. Not every artist we’re showcasing are active on the street (or will be painting live) but all are influenced  by them in some way and we’ll bring you news of them and their work over the next month. One of these is JENKINS. If you haven’t come across him yet then make a mental note to as he is a name to look out for. JENKINS works using paint and pencils through to screen print and collage, layering colour, mark making and printing techniques to create bespoke, limited edition artworks. His life-long obsession to draw, be it on the back of envelopes or scraps of paper, has grown over the years into a mass of little black books filled with sketches, the ‘pictures from my pocket’ that capture his ideas and future works. JENKINS is involved in a wide variety of commissions for clients worldwide and is a member of the international WAFA (We Are F**king Awesome) Collective. This piece is entitled All the Madmen and is part of his Split in Two series. Oh, and he’s a bloody nice bloke too!

Give The Dog a Bone

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Brighton-based artist and TB&TC conscript Funky Red Dog, has been busy over the weekend strategically placing his paste ups in telephone booths across the city. Entitled Dog & Bone Box, we’re guessing these latest works confused dog walkers and their four-legged friends alike. He’ll be doing his business at the event and his work, like this self portrait, will be on sale over the weekend of 8-9 May. But for all those who can’t wait that long then visit his site HERE.

The shop aint open yet but here’s a preview. This is Hutch’s Hostess print and we will be selling 10 (APs) artist proofs over the weekend (or until stocks last!) for…£20 each! Printed on 270 gsm pale grey paper they measure 64 x 39cms. All the artwork from most of the artists is rolling in as we speak and we don’t take cheques or cards. So, please…please, bring cash if you want to buy. All of the work will be available at more than fair prices as we’re not an auction house or a gallery so you won’t face a mark up. And, a percentage of everything you purchase goes to the Brighton Youth Club. Now you can’t say fairer than that!

The artist list is now up and it reads like a who’s who of street art talent. If you’re not familiar with any of the artists’ work then hit the links and check it out for yourselves. You won’t be disappointed.

Pinky at Dreweatts

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Another night another auction, this time Dreweatts at Selfridges, saw another TB+TC confirmed artist’s work up for grabs. This time it was Pinky and his brand new, four layered papercut entitled “When The Shit Goes Down You Better Be Ready”.
