More corporate than then the first, here’s the second installment of the Brighton Brugal rum campaign, Wet Paint delivered back in the summer. This one features our man ‘Rum & Juice’ Jeba, Req, The Osh and of course, the Dada, Don. T-pimping is Snub 23, Foundry and Sinna. This is a precursor to the latest shorts we’ll post in the next few days from Edinburgh and Manchester, before we hit Covent Garden at the end of the month.

Brugal – Brighton Part 1

Friday, November 5th, 2010

As the Brugal campaign is starting to wind up for the year, Wet Paint thought we’d share some of the videos that have been produced to support the push. This is the first of two from the Brighton launch back in June. As the winter months are now on us, this will leave you pining for sunnier climbs and rum instead of log fires and brandy! We’ll post the second Brighton installment in the next couple of days followed by the Manchester and Edinburgh videos. Then it’s on to London.

The Writing’s on the Wall

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

An integral part of Wet Paint Productions’ inCANdescent event as part of Brighton’s amazing White Night festivities, was the Lumacoustics YrWall - a digital graffiti innovation that allowed the general public to try their hand at ‘graffiti’ and test their creative talents. You may have even seen it on this season’s Dragon’s Den. Kicking off with Req, here are some of the cleaner renditions from the night (some simply wouldn’t make the watershed). Over the course of the event, hundreds of people swamped the screen and participated. WPP would like to thank Tim Williams and the entire Lumacaustics team for their help and professionalism throughout. This nifty bit of kit can be hired for functions and corporate promotions. We can’t recommend it highly enough. Get in touch HERE.

Wet Paint Light the Night

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

As promised, we give you yet more photos from the WET PAINT PRODUCTIONS’ inCANdescent showcase as part of Brighton’s White Night festival. Positive that we have delivered a first, our event rocked the city as it has never been seen before. Wet Paint’s unique concept not only caught the imagination of the council but all of the thousands of people who attended our ‘light graffiti spectacular’ in Jubilee Square as part of the this city-wide event. It’s important to remember though, that without the amazing talents of the artists and a dedicated team, events like this can’t be realised. So, with that in mind, we need to thank the people that made it happen: First shout goes out to our main man Russell, who worked tirelessly to see the project through (you know who are playa!), and to all the artists for  their work and vision. Thank you and we look forward to buying you a stiff drink at the WPP Xmas party: Fay MacDonald, of Diosa Media, who is a visionary who never lets us down and underpinned the White Night/Wet Paint concept. WPP also  need thank Snowstorm and the crew, Andy cummins for being a legend, Giles Smith for his doubtless hard work and help and my sister who is in hospital but wishing the best for us (please, get well soon soon).

Lumacoustic’s Digital Wall

Pinky

Mishfit

Hutch

Req

At Wet Paint Productions, we have just about recovered from our latest event, inCANdescent – the centrepiece to Brighton’s 2010 White Night festival. Themed on illumination, the city plays host to amazing installations that light the streets of our fair, funky city which entices shops, galleries, municipal buildings and people to stay up late. Commissioned by Brighton & Hove City Council, with support from art republic and Ink_d gallery, Wet Paint’s idea to illuminate columns in Jubilee Square and have some of Brighton’s best graffiti and street artists paint them using transparent paint went down a storm. Thousands of people turned up to watch the event which started with a dance routine from local street dancers Same Sky, followed by live painting from Mishfit, Req, Pinky, Hutch and Imbue. Lumacoustics (as seen on Dragon’s Den) were also on hand with their digital graffiti wall for the public to create their own art, while local film and documentary makers Snowstorm Media rolled out especially commissioned street art films projected on to Myhotel, throughout the night. Being Brighton, the afternoon had started with a Zombie Walk and the whole city was alive with the walking dead which made for a surreal but amazing vibe. We’ll post some more pictures soon if you can’t wait that long hit HERE for more!

Paint the Night

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Sometimes posts can be like buses, you wait for ages for one then several come along at once. Well, that’s pretty much how things are at Wet Paint at the moment so excuse the deluge. This latest is a piece from Brighton’s Argus last Saturday showing Req at work on a light column for the White Night festival. Plans are definitely afoot and if you’re anywhere near Brighton on 30th October we strongly recommend you come along. It’s going to be a great night across the city. Joining Req at inCANdescent will be local artists Pinky, Hutch, Snub 23, Mishfit and Imbue.

Hutch ties

Funky Red Dog ties

Wet Paint are really excited to be working with Brighton and London-based bespoke tailor Gresham Blake. We’ve been keeping this one under our fedoras for a while now but can exclusively reveal a sneak preview of the tie swatches designed by Hutch and Funky Red Dog which will be sold in limited edition colour ways. Gresham Blake is one of those designers that comes along once in a generation and has a client list of stars as long as a gorilla’s arm – including Jimmy Page, Norman Cook, Nick Cave, Steve Coogan and Christian Slater. To date he has produced clothing incorporating designs by Banksy, James Cauty, Tracey Emin and David Samual (Rarekind) to name a few. Specialising in Savile Row inspired tailoring with a rock star twist, Gresham Blake epitomises classic British tailoring with a playful, subversive edge and now we have introduced him to two of Brighton’s finest stencil artists. You can expect more designs and a wider range of street art inspired clothing to follow soon. These designs and all of Gresham’s clobber can be bought from his shop in Brighton, London or website.

The Yard’s Gates Open

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Last week Brighton got it’s newest club in the shape of The Yard and after being commissioned to give the interior a serious street vibe overhaul, we thought we’d share some more pictures with you. At the top is Snub 23, the man behind all of the work, next to his image ‘Be Nice to Girls’ which now adorns one complete wall on the ground floor. Most of this floor has been given a distressed, lived-in look to mimic art on the street and we think we fulfilled the brief. At the bottom is a commissioned piece by rum producer Brugal which WPP worked with over the summer. We can now announce that there will be a rum-fueled spray paint antics coming up next month in Edinburgh, Manchester and London. We’ll update you on events soon.

The Whole Nine Yards

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Another month and another commission for Wet Paint Productions. This time around it is for Brighton’s newest club The Yard (formerly the Ocean Rooms). When the new  owners asked us to be involved we jumped at the chance and unleashed our own ‘Optical Manipulator’, the machine that is Snub 23 to take over and put the ‘street’ into the venue. Before the doors open tonight we thought we’d give you just a sneak preview of what clubbers can expect from the revamp of this three-floor hotspot about to get nightlife in the North Lanes buzzing again. We have been asked to keep the spirit alive by continually changing the interior and experience, so we’ll post more pictures tomorrow after the soft launch and updates as they occur. If you’re in the neighbourhood, get yourselves in for the artwork alone. Like the sound system it’s banging. Big ups to Snub and thanks again to The Yard team and if you need some of this in your life then get in touch.

We’ve Seen the Future…

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Due to a manic schedule (and maybe a bit of well earned laziness!) we have had what can only be described as a communications black out over the last few weeks. Well, back from travels sorting arrangements for forthcoming events which we’ll announce very soon, we thought we’d update you with a couple of posts on recent events.

Last month saw Wet Paint Productions’ Aerosol Art workshops kick off at the Open Market, Brighton, and we had a full house every time. From seven year-olds to a thirty something stag party, we found ourselves teaching the uninitiated how to spray paint and with great success. Our young apprentices especially threw themselves into the action and couldn’t wait to get their hands dirty as these pictures prove. Under the guidance of Foundry and Snub 23 we think we have helped to produce some budding little graffiti artists. We have to also thank Funky Red Dog and Limbo for their direction too.

Having already received a lot of requests for more we will update you soon with future dates.
