Start Them Young – Graffiti Workshops for Kids

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Just call us the saviors of parents. With the summer school holidays in full swing, Wet Paint Productions have introduced graffiti taster workshops for kids from 7 upwards. Instead of sat in front of a TV wearing their thumbs to the bone on games consoles (or whatever it is kids do these days), we are now giving them the chance to experience aerosol art and graffiti techniques under the guidance of respected and talented, local artists. Based at the Open Market in the centre of Brighton, groups of no more than five per session will receive a great introduction to street art in a safe and urban environment. All paint and protective equipment is supplied.

As places and sessions are limited we advise that you book quickly. For more information an bookings contact us at: wetpaintproductions@hotmail.com

So, whether you are a student, street art enthusiast, or have a child who would benefit from a positive way to learn basic creative graffiti skills, we look forward to hearing from you.

Graffitmundo on the BBC

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Our good friends at Graffitimundo who promote Buenos Aires street art and graffiti artists from this amazing city, kick off this video on the BBC website covering the Argentinian street art and general art scene. Their amazing street art tour was recently named the number one thing to do (out of 10) with just 36 hours in the city, by the New York Times. If anyone is planning a trip to BA, then Wet Paint highly recommend it! (You can see some pictures HERE) They have received press from ABC News and now the BBC have joined the throng and are extolling the virtues of Argentinian art and covering the surge in interest from European collectors. Well, if anyone out there are interested, Wet Paint still have some original pieces by Run Don’t Walk (pictured), Pum Pum and Gualicho (to name a few) available. Just contact us via the comments link on the blog or directly on: wetpaintproductions@hotmail.com We will send you images, prices and arrange delivery. Wet Paint hope to bring you updates on forthcoming collaborations soon. So stay tuned!

Wet Paint helps launch Brugal rum in UK

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Just when you thought is was all over, Wet Paint Productions are back and this time working with London – based agency Billington Cartmel to promote Brugal rum in a month-long street art campaign across Brighton. Originating from the Dominican Republic, the ethos behind Brugal is passion and vitality for life centered around sun, sea and dancing, music and nightlife, as well as vibrant street art that can be seen all over the island. The combination of laid-back yet creative culture meant that Brighton was a perfect match for the launch of Brugal in the UK via a street art based campaign. Wet Paint Productions were chosen as the perfect partners to deliver the street up events. Activities for the launch will continue throughout June across the city starting with live painting in Jubilee Square over the next two days – 3/4 June. Come and see Don, Pinky, Mishfit and Foundry painting live and projecting their tropical take on this sugar cane spirit and the spirit it represents. See you there for a taste of the Carribean mixed with some great street art!

Bringing Buenos Aires to Brighton!

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Artwork has already begun to flood in from many of the TB&TC artists and all of it looks great and will be available to buy from our pop-up gallery at Myhotel over the weekend of 8/9 May. We are really excited to announce though that will also have some Latin flavour for you thanks to our very good friends at Graffiti Mundo, who based in the beautiful city of B.A work directly with some of the most exciting artists this city has to offer. Over Christmas we were lucky enough to go on their unique graffiti tour which the New York Times recently suggested as one of the top 10 things to do while there. Pictured is artwork from Fede of Run Don’t Walk, the huge talents that are Tec, Gualicho and the amazing Pum Pum – the first lady of B.A street art. This is a unique opportunity to get some great artwork at great prices from artists who are just starting to forge their way on the global scene!

Praise Be!

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

After a week of flight failures bookended by a Gumball Ralley drive to Munich and back, we’re pleased to announce that TB&TC have returned to Brighton.  Before we left, Friday 14th saw us present to the Brighton & Hove Business Lunch Club organized  and hosted by Tim Cobb of Cobb PR, who we owe a huge thanks to. Given the charity lunch time spot,  we presented to Brighton businesses the value of street art and the benefit TB&TC is offering our charity of choice, Shelter. Hutch gave a masterclass in stenciling, painting before the group and then offered this piece up for auction. TB&TC would like to thank all the companies present for their contributions and raising a total of £575 for Shelter. Our thanks goes out to Hutch and also to the winner  who then presented  the artwork up for sale again to raise extra funds for our charity. So this piece entitled Jesus Bomber is up for grabs to the first buyer over 8/9 May.

TB&TC – Raising Awareness For Shelter

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

                                             Registered charity number 263710

We interrupt our usual transmissions to bring you some important information about TB&TC’s charity this year…

Shelter, the national housing and homelessness charity, was founded in 1966 and have lobbied and pressured government into making some key changes to policy and legislation for more than four decades now. Today there is a seemingly unbridgeable gulf between the housing haves and have-nots. Housing is now the key factor determining a person’s health, well-being and prospects in life. Because of Right to Buy and a lack of new building, 1.8 million households in England are languishing on council housing waiting lists, and thousands of families are homeless, trapped in temporary accommodation. Over 45,000 calls were answered by Shelter’s free housing helpline and its Get Advice web pages received more than a million visits. With help from supporters, Shelter continue to reach out to thousands of people in housing need.

With everything that has happened in the global economy over the last two years, this charity and its work is more pertinent than ever. TB&TC are proud to be associated with this organisation and happy to be raising awareness of their hard work. Maybe there is an irony in using street art to help raise the profile of a charity aiming to keep a roof over people’s heads. We hope you feel as strongly as we do and can support Shelter through TB&TC.
