A month of Brugal Brighton kicked off yesterday with Don, Foundry, Pinky and Mishfit (respectively) getting up on the Paint Box in Jubilee Square. The artists and onlookers could have been in the Caribbean as the temperatures soared into the high seventies yesterday with great weather and art guaranteed again for today. These shots are of the work in progress and each mural depicting the essence of rum and the Dominican Republic will be finished today. Wet Paint Productions will upload the finished pieces later and announce more news of planned in-bar promotions involving artists pimping tee-shirts and more live painting dates to come in June. You can see more photos HERE.

Stop Press!
Monday, May 17th, 2010While we have been taking a few days off to regroup after TB&TC, it appears the artists’ work has caught people’s attention and made some headlines. This is a piece from Brighton’s daily newspaper, The Argus (page 5 no less- here Remi/Rough is pictured in front of his wall). Huge thanks to Fay MacDonald of Diosa Media for all her help to land TB&TC this year and for contacting the media post show.
A big shout out to RJ Rushmore of Vandalog for posting TB&TC on his blog last week. RJ is one of those tireless guys who is in it for the love of public art. Keep up the good fight! Click HERE to see the piece.

Hang Them High
Saturday, May 1st, 2010TB&TC artist T.WAT’s latest work has caught the attention of the national newspapers over the last few days during the countdown to the general election. The latest red top to feature his work is The Daily Star. We know this comes from the heart and despite the Banksy references, T.WAT’s art always projects his beliefs and that sets him aside from other artists’ work. You can see him getting up live over the TB&TC weekend of 8/9 May, by which time the outcome will be determined. So make sure you’re there to see him, Hutch, Hop Louie, Leeks, Stickee and Agent Provocateur get up in Gloucester Road, Brighton. And who knows, by then Brighton may even have the first ever elected Green MP.
Bringing Buenos Aires to Brighton!
Saturday, May 1st, 2010Artwork has already begun to flood in from many of the TB&TC artists and all of it looks great and will be available to buy from our pop-up gallery at Myhotel over the weekend of 8/9 May. We are really excited to announce though that will also have some Latin flavour for you thanks to our very good friends at Graffiti Mundo, who based in the beautiful city of B.A work directly with some of the most exciting artists this city has to offer. Over Christmas we were lucky enough to go on their unique graffiti tour which the New York Times recently suggested as one of the top 10 things to do while there. Pictured is artwork from Fede of Run Don’t Walk, the huge talents that are Tec, Gualicho and the amazing Pum Pum – the first lady of B.A street art. This is a unique opportunity to get some great artwork at great prices from artists who are just starting to forge their way on the global scene!
TB&TC Artist on Wooster Collective
Monday, April 26th, 2010
Brighton-based TB&TC artist Martin Middleton has run the Artscape project in the city which works and engages with different community groups to transform urban spaces. Projects range from large murals to 3-D sculpture and his transformed telephone junction boxes have become synonymous with Brighton. Wooster Collective posted some of his work on their blog today but failed to give him a name check so we thought we’d do it for them. See the Wooster Collective piece HERE.
Rough and Ready!
Friday, April 9th, 2010
For more than 25 years Remi/Rough’s evolving and unique brand of graffiti has been breaking boundaries and blowing domes. With his feet firmly planted in the grass routes of the 80s UK graff scene, Remi’s work lead him into the abstract Ikonoklast movement of the 90s and in 2008, and alongside Blek Le Rat, he was invited to talk on the underground history of UK graffiti at Tate Modern. Among a truly varied client base he has also been a visual consultant for Red Bull and Nike. Since his debut art show in 1989, Remi has gone on to exhibit throughout London, Paris, Perth, Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Berlin, Hamburg, Strasbourg, Edinburgh and Ibiza. And now he can add Brighton to the list! Remi will be going big over the TB&TC weekend so to see a true master in action make sure you’re in Church Street on Saturday 8 May.
